Immigrant Support:
Know Your Rights When Dealing with ICE
Knowledge is power. If you or someone you know is at risk of being profiled by ICE, knowing how to say the Know Your Rights phrases in English with a "General American" accent might help avoid misunderstandings and keep you safer or treated better. 💙
Need Help Fast?
1. Open this Google Sheet, of our video scripts. On the left are scenarios as to what the official may say or do.
2. The Third Column explains how you should answer. The 4th column looks weird, but it might help you visualize the way Amy is pronouncing the sentences in the videos. 🤓
3. Be sure to check the Notes on the right, as they include a number of helpful tips to make your interactions go as smoothly as possible. You can also download the spreadsheet and print it out.
4. Listen to and repeat the pronunciation. RECORD YOURSELF and listen back, to ensure you're getting it.
You have rights. Get resources from the Immigrant Defense Project, which is where we got this info.
